Vent Plugs on top of Tubes

OK, this fall it's time to drain the excess water out of the front section of the tubes. I've never done it and I've read all the threads on the matter. None of the threads mention what kind of fitting that plug is on top. Visual inspection looks like a square hole, so I don't know what tool to use to unscrew it with, looks like a bare half-inch ratchet...but I haven't tried that yet. I like the idea of using a 12v pump with a garden hose section to get the water out. I have a drain plug on the back of each tube and I always drain a little water out the few times I take it out each season, then I use teflon tape to seal them. Each time I pull the boat out of the water I can hear the sloshing in the front when I know the I drained the back....we even tilted the front of the boat way up and left it up for an hour and it didn't drain from the front, so I know they are sealed separately. Has anyone taken the top vent plugs out of theirs and what tool did you use?

Generally plugs with square drives are standard to ratchets. When I drained mine I took some clear vinyl tubing that would fit in the hole and taped the other end to the hose on my shop vac. worked like a champ.
