Just reinstalled engine and replaced outdrive in alpha 1 gen 1. Motor runs but I would like to verify it is cooling properly while hose is attached to lower unit. I am used to outboards and am used to verifying it is "peeing." What is the equivalent in a sterndrive, if any?

with the hose on the muffs and the boat in your drive-way, do you have water coming out your exhaust....yes or no

if yes, what does your dash gauge say?

Make sure the water supply hose from inside the transom is connected to the thermo hsg. Put muffs on the OD and turn the water to about 1/2 flow. Start the engine and wait for exhaust water to flow from the two exhaust relief ports in the bottom of the gimbal hsg. You should see this flow within 30 seconds of starting the engine. If it takes much longer than this, get into the boat an check for a water leak. If no leak, go back down and see if you have any flow. If you see a leak fix it. If not shut down. You may have misassembled the water supply tube in the lower prop hsg. If so, water will dribble from the prop, but not the gimbal ports.
