just rolled out for video in my area. i'm making the switch from comcast, seems to be saving me money and providing a better service. I'm getting their 15/2 internet connection, DVR HD box, digital box, and several standard hook-ups for $100. Comcrap was costing me $140 a month.

Any personal experience with this? i hear the internet service is solid and lightning fast, and that the HD and SD signals are very clean.

install is monday, so i'll be sure to report back my thoughts after that.

Re: Verizon FiOS

A couple of my ffriends in MA have it, they both swear by (and not at) it. One of them was one of the very first to get it in Massachusetts so Verizon sent several supervisors to observe what turned out to be an almost all-day installation - probably because he's the type to spend a lot of time time talking with the work crew - and he was quite happy with what he felt was the gold carpet treatment he got from them both before and after the installation. They both said pretty much what you've already heard about the internet service being fast and reliable.

As I understand it Verizon has to put a small UPS right near where the cable comes into the house, so you need to have room for it along with a nearby power outlet.

thanks for the info... yes, was told install could be 4-6 hours. have read some horror stories on verizon service as a whole, but i realize that you usually only hear the few bad stories and not the good ones.

i'm really just looking for good, reliable video and internet service, and not sending comcrap any more money.

will report back after monday....

Re: Verizon FiOS

update...have now had FiOS for about a week or so. internet is blazing fast. it's almost funny to me that we take the jump from dial-up to broadband and think it can't get any better. well, it can... i got their 15/2 speed and on wireless i still get about 11/2. as a side note, iboats is still one of the slowest sites out there.

video has been a bit of a struggle, but i think it's on my end not theirs. picure quality actually went down a bit. a few calls with verizon (great tech service 24/7) and i've improved it with the removal of some splitters. but as i stand now, i should have plenty of signal strength to receive a perfect signal, yet i don't. so another call to verizon and they'll be out here to help me.

overall, very pleased and recommend it to everyone when it's available. the best part is not sending that $140 check to comcast each month.
