ook guys i have some questions about the verna-therm assembly. found the verna-therm valve laying in the lower leg of the motor so i figured i better take it apart and see what was going on ..... all the other parts were there and now i have the verna-therm valve .... my questions are about putting it all back together. following the digram in my service manual this is what i have come up with ... am i correct ?? pics were taking with thermo housing and thermo housing plate with engine side up ... just like the service manual shows ..........

now ... when installed the the small tip of the verna-therm element seat into the small hole on the back of the verna-therm valve ?? do those 2 parts stay seated together all the time or does that small pin move in and out of the bakc of the valve ?? thanks guys, scott

Re: verna-therm questions .. assembly etc ... guru's please read ...

The pin moves out of the vernatherm as it responds to temperature. As it moves out, it pushed the valve off the seat. When it cools, the fat valve spring is actually what pushes the valve against the seat and the pin back down into the vernatherm. Yes, it stays in the hole in the valve.

EDIT: BTW, if the spring is not able to push the valve against the seat and pin down into the vernatherm, the vernatherm is shot. Also, the pin should be a fairly loose fit in the nose of the vernatherm. If it is stuck, try pulling it out and clean the corrosion off of it.
