I have a very old Sea King motor. I am trying to figure out how old it is and how many horsepower it puts out. Model #1566(or GG)-9015, serial #410838. It is a 2 cylinder dual ignition model and is kind of a greenish blue color if that helps. Thanks!

wespauley@yahoo.com

Wes,
1566(or GG)-9015 is actually 15GG-9015. That's a 1951 (15 is 51, reversed) built by the Gale Corporation (GG) and 9015 is a model designation. It's rated at 5.5 hp at 4000 rpm. Good, strong little motors. It may need a tuneup (points, condensors, coils, plugs, wires) to regain its strength. Gale was the generic arm of OMC/Evinrude up into the 60's and then disappeared. email me if you want a photocopy of the manual...50-54 were identical, including the manual.

Hi Wes
Your SeaKing is a 1951 5hp model. 15GG9015A is the model #. This motor was made by OMC's Gale div. SeaKing is a Montgomery Ward brand name. The Gale mod# for this unit is 5d10.
