This outboard is on a 1974 16' Starcraft Supersport that I just inherited. It was having problems shifting smoothly (or at all) from the remote shifter, and I removed the powerhead on a hunch that the rubbers were gone that connect the lower pan to the exhaust tube.
I was correct. The rubber parts are all there however, they are no longer connected to the bolts that hold them on. So, what I have are eight studs with nickle sized slugs where the rubbers were originally glued. They are all corrosion welded and are really are frozen (will have to drill out I am sure) and four cylinderal rubber plugs all in pretty good condition.
I don't wanna pay 200 bucks to get replacement studs (that's the ebay used price!!)
I have lots of creative ideas, but would love to hear about something that actually worked before I act.
BTW, I used 2.5 ton epoxy to glue the assemblies back together, and re installed the powerhead, and it WORKED until I needed to tilt the motor up and "pop" they became unglued in a hurry.
