Very superstitious

Does anyone believe that your fishing hat brings good luck? I do. Bad things happen if your not wearing your lucky hat. Mid season last year I had to wash it....I mean I had to wash it it was bad. For the next few days afterword I had bad luck. This year I have to replace my hat. How do I make sure it will be a lucky hat?

Well if you're fishing for catfish your years old questionable "lucky hat" could be the fish attractor. :facepalm:

I am of the opinion that it definitely makes a difference, and the probability of better luck directly correlating to how many times it has fallen in the water and been retrieved (and NOT washed)

You guys have been helpful I guess. I fish more than most guys so my hat sees a lot of time on my head. My last good luck hat flew off my head and wasn't recoverable. I'm going to bring a new hat along and wear it every now and then. See what happens....lol

A hat is a very important part of your fishing gear ... I learned that the first day I ever worked on a commercial shrimp boat ... You learn quick when those flying rats start to come around ...

I'm a smallmouth guide so I fish on an average of a 140 days a year. I knew there were other fishermen that were superstitious, my lucky hat isn't all of my superstitions. What are some of yours?

Other superstitions? Well, I never fish on a day that starts with the letter q. That would be bad mojo! And I never fish n the 6th Thursday of the month. Other than that, we are good to go ...

When "big" striper fishing I never bring a camera, bad mojo! Cell phone with built in camera also gets left in the truck, it wouldn't do any good as a phone anyway as there is no cell service where I'm fishing. No banana's on the boat either.

The only time my lucky hat gets washed is when it's really hot outside and I dunk it in the lake/river to cool the old noodle. If you washed you lucky hat at home, I'd suggest dunking it in the lake/river to get it's mojo back again.

On a serious note, i wash my other hats in the dishwaher not the washing machine
