Just brought my 6mo old Sony Viao (multi media) back to the dealer lastnight ... Hard drive went on vacation.<br /><br />Tech. rep. said it's the first one he's seen take a walk ... ??<br /><br /> anyone else hear anything?<br /><br /><br />-barlow-

Hard drives crash all the time. The fact that it is a Sony Viao has nothing to do with it. They use one of a number of brands of hard drive just like all the other manufacturers do. These parts are no different that any other thing in life. Most of them run forever, some crash and burn after a few years, and a few of them fail within the first few months. If it is the first one he has seen fail, he must not have been repairing computers for very long. Just make sure you always keep a backup of your important stuff at all times.

I have a Sony Vaio, same vintage, so far, so good. I even stuck my old HD in it,to provide backup, but haven't needed it. I also keep my virus software updated daily. Currently, there are some nasty critters out there, and the attempts to infiltrate never stop. The last one was from Canada (I wonder why?)....A lovely Trojan attempted thru a back door vulnerability in XP.<br />I hate French and Canadian hackers.

thnx guys .. I'm not sure how long the tech's been around puters but hes been there for more than 4yrs I know. ... I've delt with him before you see <br /><br />I've kept my virus software updated also guess I just got a bad one... oh well.<br /><br />was just curious to here what you al had to say about it thanx
