When we're just putting along at around 1500rpm or so there is a vibration when you steer the out drive back and forth. Not so much in the out drive but through the hull of the boat. The boat is a 1988 19.5 foot celebrity bowrider with a 5.0L merc and alpha one drive, there doesnt feel like any vibration while running on plane.Could it just be wash from the prop at low idle?Any one have any info.

Pull the outdrive and check the ujoints.

Do you think it could be a bad u-joint?It almost feels like a pulsing in the hydraulics for the steering but thats just a guess.

Sounds similar to what one of my lightly damaged props does if I run it. Very similar to what you are describing at those low rpm's. 5 minutes to put your spare prop on and you can at least rule it out.
