Vibration When Idleing

1981 Galaxy 1978 L6 165 Merc 165 Merc Outdrive , When In Gear At Idle Speed There Is A Slight Vibration But As I Throttle Up It Smoths Right Out , No Over Heating, Oil Presure Fine , Should I Be Concered ? Thanks

First, turn off your CAPS LOCK, then every word won't start with a capital letter.


Yes, you should be concerned. That means the carb could be out of adjustment, the engine needs a tuneup, you have low compression or who knows. The L6 engine idle very smooth when setup properly.

Make sure its a complete tune-up(plugs,wires,cap, timing, etc), "I" would begin compression check first, That can rule out alot of things before you jump to fuel delivery issues and dumping some coin into an engine for tune-up parts that has other issues to address first before a tune-up. Low compression on one cylinder can give the symtoms you are describing.

I'm not a betting man but I would put my money with the idea that a compression check will tell the tail of your issues. I hope im wrong.
