Re: Viking Expert Needed
That is an early to mid 1950s model, sold by Eaton's in Canada only. It has a neutral clutch (lever on starboard side) which means it is probably about 1952 or 1953. It was made by OMC's Gale Products Division, and shares a few parts with the parent company's Johnson and Evinrude models, along with many parts with other Gale-made motors of the era (Sea King, Buccaneer, Sea Bea, Elto, etc.). The Gale made models were a less expensive "house brand" line that hit a price point lower than similar horsepower Johnsons and Evinrudes, kind of a Chevy to Johnrude's Cadillac.
Nice enough motors, not hard to get them going, lots of parts out there. They are not uncommon, so getting used parts is as easy as finding a parts motor.
