Hey everybody, imported a 19' 2002 Vindicator down to the land of oz a few years back. 5.0ltr MPI motor, sweet stern drive, Yellow/Red trim, all I needed to get the kids up on skis and enjoy the water. Hmmmm yes she is a sweet looking boat, and the passing comments and admirers have all been wow! now comes the but.... came with 23" prop, 55MPH @ 4200RPM. Nearly drowned the first slalom skier who got on the back.....not looking good. Boat "digs" a big hole on full throttle, cavitates at 2000RPM and will not pop out????? Simple down the prop size to spin up quicker....down to 18" now, 55MPH @ 5500RPM. Boat is super responsive with this but still have the problems getting her out of the water with a slalom....I am not happy. I know these things are heavy, but with 260HP on tap she should do better than that. Is this the normal for a VIP in fresh water??? She jumps out in the salt but the kids are a little shy about the Great Whites down here. We can live with limited room and having to throw an anchor off the stern, try climbing over the screen and risk falling in the drink because of the convexed bow ... been there not going back again. In finishing, yes I love the pose of this boat, just wish we could ski behind her better. She is in for her service and tune tomorrow, maybe the service centre will sort out the problems?????
Looking forward to getting her back in the water come spring (ours that is)
By the way, The VIP people have been fantastic to deal with about other questions of had....I haven't broached this one yet, so don't stop being loyal to cause.
Cheers, and thanks for your time.
