Purchased a 12' Alumacraft today to use as a rowboat for fishing on a small lake. It was covered with algae/moss but appeared to be all intact. Looked exactly like one my father owned in the late 50's. V hull, not very deep, 3 seats. I put it on a couple sawhorses and brushed the hull with liquid detergent (in water). It cleaned up surprising well after a few hours of scrubbing. I found one pin hole caused by something hitting it and one 1" small crack, both below the waterline. The wooden motor mount on the outside of the transom could be pulled off by hand. The wood on the inside still solid. The only other major problem is one corner of the transom must have hit something and the transom is dented some and the bracket on the top of the corner looks like it may be bent some. Oarlocks are intact but no inserts inside (I think the original may have had inserts?). Wonder if these may still be available. After a little research on line here is my plan and would appreciate any comments/corrections etc.. Patch holes with Epoxy Putty on hull and holes from outside motor mount. Drill out rivets on transom corner and remove brace. Pound/pull out dent in transom. Replace Bracket and secure with ss screws/nuts. Seal seems with 3M5200 or Silkaflex and/or paint floor with bedliner paint? Clean hull again with Scotchbrite Red and wax it. Sorry for the magnus opus here. Any criticisms/suggestions would be appreciated. PS: Can't read the plate on the transom yet but will check it out after I turn it over.
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Vintage 12 Footer Alumacraft

The only info I can find on the boat is Model FZ which is on a plate on the transom.
