Have been wanting a small vintage runabout for keeping at my cabin. I have had bad luck with old fiberglass boats as i always seem to find core rot. Thought Id go all aluminum. Picked up this beautiful vintage alumacraft Deep-C. Got it from the original owner. Always stored indoors, even in the summer. Motor is a 66 Mercury 35. I have a couple questions. Since its winter, i obviously havent driven it. Its a friend of a friend and he knows its history, meticulous upkeep, so I have no concerns of it running well. Was curious how well the 35 merc will push it along speed wise. Second ?. was wondering if these 6 flip up seats were a factory option. Thanks

Welcome to iboats.

Cool old craft. Nice find.

I don't recall seeing seats like those.

The 35 should push it well, around 30 mph ?? Fast enough to pound your bones in a heavy chop for sure.

It is a heavy duty boat, but still weighs next to nothing.

We also have this forum page, dedicated to Alumacraft boats:

Alumacraft Boats

( the boards are a bit slow this time of year, but still plenty of old posts to read.)
I grew up on the west side of cream city.

Thanks Roscoe. I found some pics of seats in an old alumacraft accessories catalog from the 50's seats looked the same but were bolt on these are rivited to the benches though. No big deal. Love the old girl. I grew north of Hayward on the Eau Claire Lakes in bayfield county. In milwaukee since 93. Have a cabin up in Barnes, WI on the Middle Eau Claire Lake. I didnt see the Aluminum Boat forum, thanks

Those old tinnys never wear out.You have lots of options for making the seats and an elevated floor . Here is my 1960 crestliner showing some of the seats and floor. Very low cost to do too.

I Like that Rivermouse. I do like the idea of a platform under my feet thats flat, so when your moving around, casting and such. Are yours made to lay in or are they attatched in some way. Alitttle wood in all that tin looks nice too.

I know it's an old thread but if the bench was drilled into to install the existing aftermarket seats it probably eliminated some of the flotation. One of Aluma Crafts big selling point was the benches were basically air tight boxes for flotation if ever swamped.

Great boats! I have a '56 with the factory seat option on the front two benches and looking for the same for the third back bench. I'm planing on having matching bench cushions made for all three benches that will probably be held in place with industrial velcro. Then also having the seat backs rebuilt to match orig.

Mine came with a '74 Evenrude 50 hp. Manufacturer states boat is good up to 60 hp with the aquaduct transom. Probably would take 70 hp without an issue.
