Does anyone have any idea what kind of mahogany Starcraft used for it's bench seats in a 1957 era boat?

Probably Philippean or Honduran, as they were typically the two most used then and today. Philippean is more redish brown and softer. Today the Meranti (a plantation grown Philippean look alike "mahogany" ) is used a lot, as true mahogany is harder to get. Meranti is the stuff you see sold as "mahogany decking". Many times Honduran was used on seats, as it is harder furniture grade material....and is more yellowish red.

I ask because I took my project boat into work Friday to use the tools in my Dad's workshop to cut a seat back to fit. I got it done and cleaned up the shop and was eating lunch in the break room and my Dad walked in with the scrap pieces I discarded and asked me how much money I spent on the mahogany for my project? Told him that it was repurposed wood from a speed queen I bought for $250. He said it was too dense to be philippine mahogany and was probably worth more than my project boat. He is a wood hoarder so he may be wrong but I did brighten his day and tell him I had another 1x12x48" piece I would take out of the burn pile for him.
