Vinyl Deck Covering question

Hey all, I ordered some Nautalex Vinyl to replace the nasty carpet on the deck of my boat. I pulled the two deck boards tonight. They are in pretty good shape. A little dry rot along a couple edges, but I can cut that back and fit a strip to take care of that. My question.......The carpet backing sands off easily, leaving the carpet adhesive, which does not come off easily. Will the Nautalex adhesive bond with the old carpet adhesive or do I have to get that all off
You can see in the picture the area where I sanded off the old carpet backing.

If that plywood has any rot on it I wouldn't waste my time sanding it. All the backing and adhesive needs to come off if you're going to reuse plywood.

Plywood should be sealed before applying the vinyl, I strongly suggest epoxy resin.

Plywood should be wrapped with vinyl and then fastened down in the boat, trying to layover a deck with vinyl after the decking has been installed doesn't work and won't last.

Hey Jigngrub! I was hoping you would jump in here and to my superhawk thread. I read your boat restore thread and I must say, that is some fine work. I'm going to go with new plywood. I already have it from an old project and I have the epoxy resin as well. Sanding glue just isn't in me. And, like you said, there is some dry rot.
