I'm currently re-finishing the floors, decks and hatch lids on my bass 17' bass boat. I'm considering, as an alternate to carpeting, marine-grade vinyl floor covering. I want to avoid having to repair soft spots on my deck in another ten years--hopefully this is the way to go.

Anyone have any thoughts as to pros/cons, etc. What brands would you suggest? I've found some at BPS, Cabela's, Overton's, etc.

Thanks for the input!

Sounds slippery when wet. My brother had his sprayed with bedliner material. It turned out nice.

Re: Vinyl Flooring as Alternate to Carpet

I have vinyl in a pontoon that I just bought, and really like it except it gets VERY hot. Too hot for me to walk on barefoot. I have to keep a pair of deck shoes handy, or a towel to stand on.

The color of mine is a light colored tan. If it was a dark color, I could understand it getting hot.

My other pontoon had a very dark blue carpet. While it got hot, it is nothing compared to the vinyl.

My Starcraft's original floor was rotted out when I got it, and it was covered in vinyl. It all depends on how you care for it. I'd argue it's better than carpet though. I went the paint route myself - cheaper, but doesn't look as good.

Nice, thanks guys. I was considering black, but due to all the heat comments, I may think about another color. I'm thinking I'll do the deck floor in the vinyl and the casting decks carpet.

I'm going with Nautolex tan vinyl for my 18' Crestliner's decks and vertical surfaces, same stuff that BPS has. I needed 16 yards but bought 22 since it was cheap,,, 22 yards (72" x 66') for $225. Pm me if you would like the source...
