VIP Windshield removal

I have a 1987 VIP Vision 17' boat that I need to take off the driver side windshield frame so I can cut out a 3" hole in the top of the dash for my compass. My ? is this: I think that the mounting screws are behind the black plastic strip that is shown in the pic at the bottom of the windshield frame . The plastic is very "stiff" , I don't want to try and take it out and end up breaking it if the mounting screws/bolts aren't behind it. Can anyone verify that the mounts are in deed behind that black plastic strip in the photo?

cant verify that assumption......but i would gess the same......

a blow dryer on hot can make the plastic more suscptable to bending with out cracking or breaking.......it the plastics cold.....and you try to bend or manipulate it..........snap !

99% of windshield mount screws are under the black trim.
