Can someone tell me what the voltage drop should be across the starter solenoid on my 95' xr6? Thanks!

Re: Voltage Drop on Solenoid?

Which one?

Control windings should have within 0.5 volts of battery voltage......12.2 or so (with starter disconnected so as to not load battery). Very low current there, maybe half an amp or less.

High current windings, when starter is spinning, under load, less than 1v, preferably less than 0.5v. Since your engine could require 150 amperes, give or take, the contacts could heat up fast if there were much drop across it which ultimately would cause it to fail.
