Hello electric choke no voltage to carburetor ,1987 460 still going strong ,purple white shows no voltage with key on and is connected to the alternator post. Marked tap , but not using a multi meter but a circuit tester.,also bypassed by hooking up to battery still no movement on choke plate .for years. Some times when it's cold it a bit hard to start but the most part doesn't seem to matter much ,just want it working ,always looking out for a good used bb454 to replace it thanks

Re: Voltage to choke

When properly set the choke plate should alwyas be closed when cold, moving the throttle just off idle should let the linkage free up and the choke plate should close (when cold).

The electric connection is for a heating unit that causes a bi-metal coill to expand and slowly OPEN the choke plate when the ignition is on.

If the choke plate is not closed when cold then an adjustment to the choke is in order.

Re: Voltage to choke

Just realize that voltage to the choke won't occur until the engine is running and the alternator is producing an output.
