Got a customer that has retro-fitted a 270 with a v6 buick....had a 4 banger in it and he used the same flex-plate coupler and after about 10hours of use it blew the springs off of the flex plate and now he is looking for a way to couple it back up and feels the flex plate with springs is too weak to handle the torque of the V6...
I know nothing about this type of drive and was wondering if anyone would have some advice as to who he may contact or maybe someone would know how to couple the 2 correctly.
Thank you,
Kenny

Just replace with the right damper(flex)plate.

The damper for a V8 (AQ200 / 225 SBChev) has a heavier hub and spring set fitted.
However it may be larger in the outside diameter than the existing failed unit.
It should be straight forward to swap them over however as the centre spline is the same for most of those units.

Peter

What bellhousing was used? There were some with single bearings, and some with double bearings. If a bellhousing with a single bearing was used and there wasn't a pilot bearing in the end of the crankshaft for the shaft to ride in, then no matter what flex plate is used it will be destroyed in short order.

Thanks for the info...Beings I have never even "seen" a Volvo dealer, I think I will refer him to Google to find one and maybe he can make contact with a dealer that can tell him (sell him) what he needs...
Thanks again,
Kenny
