Volvo 280 tilt mechanism

I have a 1979 19’ Bayliner with a Volvo Penta (Chevy) 350, and a Volvo Penta 280 Outdrive. The person I got it from had a mechanic disengage the outdrive from the tilt mechanism. The (worm drive) tilt motor likely needs to be replaced, so in the meantime e he wanted to use the boat. I am looking for resources on how to re-engage the outdrive with the tilt motor.
