Hey All,

Im all ready to install my cylinder head and manifold back to my volvo engine after a few probs.
I will need to re-set the valve clearences for the valves, I am aware of the procedure, but how is it possible to turn the engine by hand in order to get the valves in the right postion.
I was going to remove the raw water pump to do this, but I understand it is a shaft protruding from the crank pully....thought it would be a nut!
Also when I removed the cylinder head bolts, they were covered in a white sealer type gunk, does anybody know what this sealer is?

Kind Regards
Dan

most engines will turn over with the plugs out from the front of the alt. or a pump. You might need to tighten a belt more than normal.

Ayuh,... Probably just plain ole Pipe Dope....
Those bolts need to be sealed, as there's water behind 'em...

With the sparkplugs out, 'n the belt really tight, ya might be able to turn it over, off the alternator...
