I have posted this problem before with my 27' Bayliner Trophy with a Volvo Penta 350 and it is not water in my fuel. The problem I am having, is my boat will not reach high rpms and will not get on plane. There is some sort of regulator between the coil and the distributor. When this regulator is hooked up the boat engine will not reach the high rpms and run about 20 mph but will not get on plane. It feels like I have about half the horse power I should. When I take this regulator off the boat will get on plane fast and run about 40 mph but it starts to backfire like the timing is off. I am not sure what this regulator dose but I can't run with it or with out it. Please help. Thanks
