I have a new boat with the Volvo 5.0Gxi for power. I am closely following the break-in procedures found in the owner's manual. With just over 4 hours on engine, I have run it up to WOT a few times reaching about 4500 rpm. The manual and Volvo's web site indicate that the WOT rpm should be about 5000 rpm. I once read somewhere (can't remember where) that the engine doesn't come into its full horsepower potential until 20 or 30 hours of run time. Is this true or am I currently over-propped? While running at WOT and hitting about 4500 rpm, the speedo reads 50 - 53 mph so performance seems pretty good. What do you think?
Thanks,
Mark
