Have an 82 bayliner 18' capri with a Volvo AQ125A 270 outdrive maxes out at about 3000 rpm and 25 mph have tried messing with the trim/tilt have books coming, just thought I would see what I could find out here. As far as i know it has the standard prop a 14x21 i beleive. Starts, revs up and idles great out of the water. Thanks, and excuse me if anything is listed wrong, amateur boat owner.

I think the 21p prop is too much. You should be getting close to 5000 RPM @ WOT. Do you have a different prop to try.

When was the last full tune up?

The tilt mechanism is only for pulling the boat out of the water or idling in shallow water a idle speed. You could damage the tilt buy trying to trim while running or trailering with the trim mechanism holding up the outdrive.

Re: Volvo AQ 125A Problems

Thanks for the help I had planned on getting a different prop on the way. As far as a tune up it appears to have all new plugs and wires, and posssibly some head work done to it recently. Ill keep tinkering and figure somthing out.
