volvo aq125a engine overheating

hello folks,i had rescently took the head off my 4 cyl and had it machined,changed all of the gasketsput new timing belt on.<br />my question is why does my volvo over heat during 20 -30 mph and what causes it to not want to start while it is hot?

timing advanced to much? does it not want to crank when it is hot?

hello does it sit at 140-160 then when you go up to full trottle is it at 195-205 if so i was told its normal for a volvo fresh water/closed cooling termostat starts opening at 198 and stays open let me know what your temp is maybe im wrong ?????

temp should get much above 180-190 with this engine...

On my manuel is says it should open up at 180-198 but it gets up too 230 240 then i shut her down and wait til she is cool again.the thermostat does open at 180 and holds steady until she in the water and under its own load. i do believe it needs timed with a gun ..thanks for the advise what do u think i should time it at?<br />i have no expirience with a timing light im used to listing to a car but as we all know this is a boat instead lol..
