Hi, I have a 1984 Bayliner with a AQ125A Volvo Penta motor. We are experiencing heating problems. We have changed the the water pump, the impellar is new and have taken out the thermostat to see if it still overheated, which it did. Is there another impellar or someithing in the lower unit that sends water to motor to cool it?

If the exhaust manifold is plugged up from corrosion and rust, the water flow is blocked. At that point, the best impeller in the world won't do any good. Pull the manifold and check the water passages

Re: Volvo AQ125A Heating Problems

Thanks Don for the info. I just came in from messing around with it, and honestly, I think that might be to big of a job for me. I am so new to this and wanted to do it myself, but I think I have done all that I can. My next question is, can a manifold be cleaned out or does it have to be replaced, I am going to try to find a mechanic to help, and I want them to think that this girl knows what she is talking about. Thanks for everything.

Lena, I just repaired mine. it was the gooseneck and gasket on top of the outdrive going to the transome, does your boat idle cool, but overheats when on plane?
