just purchased liveaboard houseboat, twin 260A (350) engines with volvo AQ280PT outdrives. Boat at drydock for bottom job / outdrive maintenance. Engines not the problem, outdrives / transom plate have severe electrolysis, no anodes left. Q.1 Is it worth the trouble and expence to revive or replace outdrives on boat (home) that will seldom be used, but constantly be kept in south TX salt water and only dry docked every 2 years for bottom job.(Don S, I know that is a question for myself) Q.2 How high maintenance are they when kept in salt water. Q.3 If I replace, what do I need to be aware of such as different transom plates etc. Q.4 It is a PT model (trim/tilt), are non PT parts compatible?
Thanks for the advise already given on this forum from Don S. and all you others, by my reading them they have helped.
