Does volvo offer a two part Polyurethane Blue-Grey paint for the older Drives? I plan on repainting mine.
I'm going to use this process:
sand outdrive and all nicks out of the paint to bare aluminum. Leave existing where good, factory paint/sealer on.
Alumaprep then Alodine the exposed aluminum areas
Hit it with 2 part epoxy primer.
Then I'd like to find a 2 part polyurethane volvo color and use that as a base. But I can only find rattle can volvo touch up paint which probobly aint gonna last... Unless somone with experience using it can share how it workerd out for them

Re: Volvo Blue-Gray Drive Paint

After prepping the aluminum with alumaprep and alodine apparently it works well. Zinc chromate primer is a no no for anything under water

I think your referring to Red Oxide because Zinc Chromate is the primer for aluminum drives. Been using it for years. Alodine is a great product because it adheres well if your going to bare metal

Find an autobody shop to match and mix up some paint for you. A local autobody repair shop near me was able to match up a single stage paint to match my Cobra SX paint. Was an acrylic enamel with hardener additive. Basecoat/clearcoat system is not recommended for the drive. A two part poly, like Dupont Imron, would work too. Use the Dupont hardener in it too.
