I have a 2001 DPSX and the unit is slow going into
forward. When you shift to forward the props will spin slightly. As the the throttle is increased to about 1000
RPM's she locks into place. I have moved the shift
cable to full adjustment just for for laughs and that is not the problem. Has anyone replaced the cone clutch without changing the gears? It appears to be a set? Oh yeah FYI reverse is good.

The cone is not part of the gear set and can be replaced seperatly.
It's probably bad from slipping a little each time it was put in gear because the cable was improperly adjusted to begin with.

Thanks, When I looked at breakdown it appeared
that the cup portion was made on the gear set and it may all be one assembly. Can it be changed b removing just top cover of Drive or do I need to pull it all the way down?

When I drained the oil it was a little discolored? Maybe some water. I am hoping that is the meat of the problem?
