Hello,

I Have a 1999 Volvo Dual Prop (DP-SM, Product# 3868913) Outdrive and need to replace the bellows.

Does any one know the basic procedure?

It looks like I can just remove the rear part of it at the pivot bolts (14mm 12pt bolts?) as well as removing the linkage and pivot pin from trim/tilt.

Does this sound right or do I need to remove the entire outdrive to replace bellows?

Appreciate any help I can get..

Also, does anyone know where I can download the manual for this unit?

Thanks,

HH

Re: Volvo DP outdrive replacing bellows

Yes, you have to remove the outdrive. The ujoints go through the bellows.
I usually just remove the 2 pivot bolts (1/2" allen wrench) and there is enough room to get the old bellows out and install the new one, without removing the shift cable. You can also remove the exhaust bellows and water hose from the bellhousing and pull the ujoint bellows out the bottom without removing the pivot bolts.
There are download links for the OEM service manuals, up in the Adults only sticky if you want to download them.
