Volvo DP Prop Wrench

Had to remove the props on my DP drive today. The local marina didn't have the "special tool" but wanted $90 to order one. I found a piece of 2" steel pipe in the basement. 30 seconds with the angle grinder and a couple minutes with a dremel to make the ID a little larger and I had my special tool! Just use a pipe wrench. All in all it cost me about $4 and maybe 15 minutes and worked great!

I made mine as well. I welded on a socket on the top so I can use a torque wrench to put the nut on with the specified torque.

I bought a DP wrench kit from my dealer at a cost of approx $32 Canadian.

I have a Volvo prop wrench as well but I wanted something with a socket head on it so I can torque it with a torque wrench.

that's the kit I got. True you can't torque the front nut but I do torque the rear nut with a normal wrench.

I have that too. It's the only tool I have made in the Czech republic. Part of it, anyway. I think I paid around $25 for it here, in the iBoats store.
