Volvo dp-sm drive damage

I have 2000 Volvo 5.7 gsi with the dp-sm drive
On my 2001 fourwins 230 horizon.

i found grey colored gear lube in the lower unit and damage to the case.
I’m looking at replacing the lower half of the drive.
i found a case with no guts.
how difficult would it be to take the gears shafts ect. And put them in the case I found. I would replace all the bearings and seals.
Where do I find the special tools needed to disassemble the drive?
how difficult of a job is it?

Check out the manual online http://boatinfo.no/lib/volvo/manuals/sx_dp-s_drive.html#/0, if you are not a qualified mechanic you might find it difficult.
You need to find what has caused that corrosion and the damage, it is far worse than mine which has done 20 seasons of 7 months in salt water.

thanks for the response. ill look over the manual. this one has spent its whole life in salt water up until i bought it 4 seasons ago. i use it in salt water sometimes but mostly fresh water.
