I know this has been asked a hundred times but I cant find anything on this particular unit.

Looking at a boat with a 4.3 volvo duo prop in it. I am kinda in a hurry to get a boat. If it would turn out to be underpowered for what I need how hard would it be to swap it out to a 5.7? I have the motor already. New mounts and exhaust i would imagine. Gearing maybe?? would the duo prop handle the extra hp? thanks

Ayuh,... Dumb, DUMB move... Buy the boat you Want,... Hurrying is your Enemy dude...
Repowering will pretty much Double the Co$t...Even if you already have a motor...

Ayuh..... not knowing my situation I deem that as semi- rude. I have been looking for the right boat nearly nightly now for almost 2 months. I thought it was an easy enough question, which is What these forums are for I thought.

The engine is the cheapest part of the operation.

By the time you buy a boat that you didn't really want and spend the $$$ to repower it (even though you have the engine, you don't have a lot of the other stuff you need for the 5.7 and it all the other stuff where the true cost is) THEN spend $$$ getting either your drive regeared OR buying a whole new drive OR spending $$$ on expensive DuoProps in a fruitless attempt to fix the gear ratio propblem you created by swapping the 4.3 and the 5.7 you will have spent far and above what the boat is worth and wasted a tremedous amout of time fixing a problem that you created.

It makes no sense.
