I made a bad choice. Bought a brand new Larson 2010 with the volvo 4 cylinder engine. It does have the carb. Problems from day 1. This thing is as of right now been at the shop for the fifth time. ( third different volvo dealer looking at it now). It just will not run. Keeps cutting out, not idiling like it should. Just been 1 big headache. My wife calls it the 20,000 dollar lawn ornament. Called volvo on Tuesday and all they keep telling me is bring it back so they can fix it. How any times is enough? My factory warranty expires next june. With the season nearly done what happens if this problen continues. Already asked and Volvo said no to extending my warrenty. If the next dealer cannt fix it then what?

Did you actually call Volvo Penta, or the dealer? HUGE difference if you want anything done.

Look at your paper work and call the Volvo Penta customer service number and explain your problem. Have all your informtion handy, warranty card, all the Serial numbers for your engine, etc.
Also have copies of your workorders from the dealers you have gone to. Including their names, addresses, phone numbers etc.
Just be factual, not emotional and explain what the problems are and what is NOT getting done.

No one here can help you. If you start taking things apart, so much for warranty.

There have been some carb issuses, do you have your engine serial number handy? I might be able to look at some service bulletins and see if your numbers is in any of them.

Called Volvo directly out of Va. Gave the next dealer who is going to try to fix all the prior work that was done including a new carb. But the problem is still there. Take the boat out 3 times no problem, the next trip out forget it. Just fed up!!

Lets put it this way. If you don't take it back, it will never get fixed or even worked on.

As soon as you get done ranting and raving about it and want to get it fixed and don't mind answering some questions let us know.

Comments like "Keeps cutting out, not idiling like it should." and "Take the boat out 3 times no problem, the next trip out forget it" doesn't really give much detail on what the problem is.

Statements like "Just fed up!!" tells me you have a $20,000 lawn ornament and you are going to do absolutely nothing.

Personally, I don't care what you do with it, it's not my problem. But if you want some help, settle down and answer some questions and work with us.

Here is the problem . When the boat is warmed up and you go near full throttle for about 5 seconds the engine just cuts out and stalls. Its like it is not getting gas or something. It starts fine but sometimes it will idle around 900 rpms and then there are time when it will stall out.it out 3 weekends in a row on the same tank of gas and the first 2 times it ran ok. The third time it did what i mentioned above. That was my wife who called it the lawn ornament. Family just upset because we had a weeks vacation planned on boating and now its back in the shop where it will be third dealer the charm and find the problem,

Ok, you don't have the boat. Your problem may be water in the carb. Problem is, there isn't a 3.0L on the market that comes with a water seperating fuel filter. (Reason doesn't matter) They just don't.
Get one installed. With todays efuels water can be a serious problem.
Since it's in the shop, either get one installed or do it yourself and maybe even ask them if water is the problem.

When the boat is warmed up and you go near full throttle for about 5 seconds the engine just cuts out and stalls

How does it work if you just ease the throttle up a little at a time? Will it pick up and go then?
