I have a 96 Volvo SX leg on my boat. The closest Volvo dealer is about two hours away so i do as much of my own servicing as i can. Several years ago i called the dealer to inquire as to what kind of oil i should be using in the leg. They said they buy oil buy the barrel and that any is ok as long as its 75/90 synthetic. Being a Catrol fan i have been using their brand. <br />Recently i had a discussion with a coworker requarding leg oils. He informed me that the shop he uses told him that Volvo SX leg require ONLY Volvo oil. Apparently premature wear will harm the leg with anything but. Something to due with the cone cluthes or something.<br />So whats the word? Which oil should i be using? Is Castrol ok or Must i use Volvo brand oil?
