Volvo outdrive

Anybody have opinions about Volvo outdrives? I am looking at a boat that has a 310hp mpefi, 454ci 7.4ltr V-8. I have heard concerns about Volvo before and I am wanting to know if the are valid concerns or are the excellent motors? Any help would be great.

Which model outdrive is it? We really don't see many problems with any of them here. The motor is a Chevrolet that's been marinized by Volvo. <br /><br />Good luck!

That is all the info I have on it right now. It's on a 1999 Crownline LPX. I appreciate your post.

I owned a 2000 fourwinns with a v6 volvo out-drive. I have not heard of any problem with a Volvo out-drive. I like the looks of a Volvo out drive better, it looks really nice compare to mercruiser. My volvo has perform well for the last three years never has any problem. When it come to replacing parts, I am sure Volvo would cost more and take longer to get parts becuase it is foreign. I would go for it and make sure that you have a volvo dealer and service near by just in case.<br /><br />Mattt.
