Hi
Lucky I have 2 pcs VP 205A installed in my boat, but during the last year the STB motor stopped without notice after approx 30 min operation and will not start again. - the other run without problem so I always get home again.
Next morning or when the motor is cold it will start again
Found that the coil was leaking and the rotor was burned - and the control module in the distributor did not look good - OK - installed a new Mallory distributor type 9-26310 and a Flame Thrower II coil and added a ballast resistor as per Mallory recommendation. (there is non for the old distributor - dont know if there is an resistan wire)
Started the motor - perfect - adjusted the timing and evrything OK and the motor start easier and run better than before - Made a test tour - first app 20 min at app 1000rpm due to speed restriction on the river and then in open water it went up to app 3.500 rpm without any problems both motors runs fine - cruised for app 1M and slowed down and then the repaired motor died after ideling in app 2 min and will not start again - Any idea what is wrong - the local VP dealer have none.
Look forward to your suggestions
/Jens

If you can recreate the problem, no start, What are you lacking...Spark or fuel?

No Title

Hi
The fuel is OK - same tank as the other motor and there come fuel to the carburator - checked with the accelration pump
No spark - just checked with at test sparkplug
There is 12V on the + on the coil
The wiring is as per Mallory recommendation see enclosed fig 2
Is it the distributor which just stay of after app 1 hour?

Hi
Got a new distributor from Mallory under warranty and now the ignition is working.
It start nicely from cold and run fine, but if I stop the motor and try to start again right away it is difficult to start- need WOT and start roughly like flooded but with a little help fiddling with the accelerator it start and run fine - could it be the float that do no close correct and overflow in a few seconds?

Hi Jens

Good to hear that it's running again.
Did you notice if the engine was smoking, when it came back to life, after the warm startup? A good cloud of dark/grey smoke and the engine was for sure flooded.
Btw, thanks for beer at the regatta :)
