Hi, I have a Volvo penta 25hp outboard with starting problems, The ignition system had been removed prior to me buying it, and the previous owner gave up on trying to get it running again, I have been trying to locate a manual with no luck, and have set the timing the best I can, and have had it running a couple of times, but it's not right, can anybody tell me the correct way to set the timing on one of these engines. I set it, by turning the engine to top dead centre, then setting the points to 18 thou, then setting the tick over cam, by loosening the pinch bolt and turning until the points closed down to 7 thou at t.d.c, and retightning the pinch bolt.
