I have been researching replacing the two-bolt water intake hose connector on my 1991 Albemarle with the VP 290-A outdrive. It seems that at one point there was a pretty detailed summary of how to remove the upper housing and replace the connector, bellows and hose posted on here. The link does not work for me and I was hoping someone here may have access to it. I checked the workshop manual but could not find enough detail in it to make me feel confident about learning how to do this. Any advice or possibly access to the link on this would be appreciated.

You should have sufficient access to the water inlet to replace it if you trim the drive all the way up, as shown in the video below. Otherwise just pull the drive off. You don't need to separate the upper housing to replace it.

Pull the helmet pin and rotate it up
Disconnect the shift cable from the linkage
Remove the linkage bar to the transmission
pull the 4 bolt holding the transmission to the drive.
Remove the belows clamp
Lift the transmission, turn it 90 degrees and pull it out

Don't damage the shims, and have new o-rings for the transmission to the upper

However to reach the water fitting, you don't need to pull the transmission, just raise the drive, turn to starboard and it's reachable from the port side
