hello, my brother in law gave my wife his volvo penta 290 serial # is 307493 what year is it ,,he say it is a scorpion on the motor it say 16 valve it has 2 carbs 4 cyl.how do i find out the horse power?Made in sweaden....thanks

sounds like an aq171. i dont recall the Hp. 170ish...

found more # on sticker plate....PN-867949 8451...serial nb 307493 ...also another plate #...AQ171A 867885.....2200201297.....1277....

my brother in law tells me the boat is a 1995 it is in good condition .they redone all the boat ..deck windsheald seats floors fiberglass .ect..the hole works.Thank you Captmello for the info...

See if you can get the hull ID# off the boat. The 290 outdrive wasn't being used in 95 nor was the aq171.
