I have a 2007 Larson 180 Sport with a VP 3.0 SX-M Drive and I plan on removing the engine today. I don't have a manual for this engine, so I don't have anything to follow for a step by step removal procedure. I was able to download mercruiser manuals from this site. Is is possible to download a VP service manual that would take me through the removal/installation process?

If not, could someone give me a few pointers? I am pretty good at taking things apart and puting them back together, but it is always nice to have something to read that explains the entire process.

Thoughts?

Re: Volvo Penta 3.0 Removal

Yesterday I was able to work on the project for a few hours. Since I have never done this before and I don't have a manual, I was going very slow and methodical. So Far I have put the drive in forward, disconnected the shift cable, unbolted 5 on the six transom nuts (the sixth is in a precarious position and will have to come off last), disconnected the steering on the inside, unscrewed the three bolts from the inside that holds the tranom plate and the outdrive together in a triangle pattern around the intake hose, and unplugged the pigtail for the tilt trim. I have the drive blocked up and at about 1/2 tilt. It doesn't look like the trim position will matter and I am about 3 inches from the floor. My next step will be trying to unscrew the last transom through bolt nut (#6). I am hoping this will allow the drive to shift backward, out of the transom plate and onto the floor.

If anyone has any insight, please let me know if I am screwing up or not. I really wish this was a mercruiser, for I have that manual here (LOL)!.
