I have a 1997 Volvo Penta 3.0L with a SX drive. The valve cover bolts are loose, not sure if from PO or vibrated loose.
Question is Can valve cover bolts vibrate loose? if so should I put some thread locker on the threads?
properly torqued, they would not vibrate loose. no need for thread locker, however its your boat. would really suck to bust off a valve cover bolt due to threadlocker
I did not think that it would vibrate loose. PO or whoever did so called work must have no tightened the bolts. The valve cover gasket was tightened at some point as it was compressed. Will not use thread locker.
