Volvo Penta 3.0L

Sorry for a really dumb question, but I just downloaded the OMC manuals from this site and my question is;

Is my OMC Volvo Penta 1992 3.0L (Four Winns) actually a GM engine? That is what they say in the manual (without really saying it, they describe the Ford and the GM). Sorry, new to this boat.

Which is it, OMC, or Volvo? They were seperate companies in 92.
Pictures of the engine and drive would be helpful.
If it is a 3.0L it's a GM engine. The Ford was a 2.3L engine, but not used in 92.

Well it is definitely an OMC Cobra 3.0L (says on air filter cover and came with the original manual). For some reason I was under the impression it was a Volvo Penta. Apparently I am mistaken. Don't know where I got that from?

It may have been repowered at some point.
