Is the camshaft the same for an engine with a 2 barrel carb as the same engine with a 4 barrel carb? I have been told the cam is different so to change the intake and carb from a 2 barrel to a 4 barrel without changing the camshaft would be a big waste.

Ayuh,... You'll enjoy the extra kick in the pants,.... ;)

What vintage are We talkin',..??

If it's a Pre-96 motor, addin' a set of Vortec heads will nearly double the Kick...

The boat is a 1997 Larson and the engine is a vortex so my next question is will I get good results from a factory 4 bbl intake over the factory 2bbl intake or do I have to get an aftermarket intake to get real results from the change? The engine already has vortex heads on it

Vortex is a spinning, often turbulent, flow of fluid (including Air). Any spiral motion with closed streamlines is vortex flow. The motion of the fluid (including Air) swirling rapidly around a center is called a vortex.

Vortec is a trademarked name for a line of piston engines for General Motors trucks. The name first appeared in 1988 on a 4.3 L V6 that used "vortex technology" to create a vortex inside the combustion chamber, creating a better air/fuel mix. Now its used on a wide range of different engines.
