Where exactly is the gear lube vent screw? Is it on the lower end facing me or between the boat and the lower end of the motor? Is the dip stick on the lower end or in the engine compartment. I tried to find it in the manual online but it doesn't say. Really would appreciate a little more help, I've never worked on this motor before. thank you

One more thing, Do I add the new gear lube the same way as I would with a mercury by pumping the lube in the drain hole up through the vent screw or from the vent on down until I reach the maximum with the dip stick?

Yes you pump it the same way.
The vent screw is under the cover held on by three bolts. One is down by the rams, two up top by the fill. You don't need to open the vent, just the fill and the drain, pump in thru the drain 65 oz and check the dipstick. Should be abou 71 oz total.
The manual is must. VP the best, seloc poor, clymer forget!
