Help...I have a wellcraft boat with a volvo penta 5.7 gspwtr and it won't start. It was running very well although I did have some hesitation during acceleration (probable acceleration pump) but not enough to dig into. Then, one day started it and let it idle for about 10 minutes like I usually do and it surged and then quit. Haven't been able to restart since. I pulled the fuel line off the carb and cranked motor, fuel is definately coming out and filling the float chamber. I sprayed starter fluid into carb and motor will fire off. I pulled the float chamber off and cleaned what I could, sprayed carb cleaner into fuel valve lockscrews and watched cleaner go into carb and sprayed carb cleaner the other way as well and watched cleaner go back to the float side. I tried to spray cleaned thru the acc pump hole in the carb but not sure if it is going anywhere. No fuel appears to be making it from the float chamber to the carb throat. I would think that if I can spray fluid thru that some fuel would get thru and it would run even if poorly. I have no problem taking the carb and having it rebuilt but I want to make sure its the problem first. It seems strange that it would not run at all. Any ideas? suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
