I’m looking to change the oil in my 5.7, I read in a few threads about the use of VP 10W-40 fully synthetic or you can use quicksilver 25W-50.

My question is for the 25W-50 quicksilver, are they talking about the black/silver synthetic blend or the black/blue bottles of “mineral” as compatible with this engine?

Link to what I mean:

Quicksilver 25W-40 Marine Engine Oil https://a.co/d/8Bz82Su

Thank you for any insight!

Vovo specs a Full Synthetic, and Mercury offers Blends and Mineral Oil. The one you link to is Mineral Oil.
I know people will be crowing about how Brand X car/truck Oil is no different. However, a Marine Engine operates in a different Operational Environment, and places different Demands on the Lubricants than a Car/Truck would.
Volvo has its Reasons for specing a Full Synthetic. The extra Cost of the Full Synthetic is really not a lot of Money in the total Cost of Operation.
