I have an engine on a standalone tank and on a pallet I have running on non ethanol. I've changed out the fuel pump since it was shot to a Chinese one just to get it running. It cranks up and runs but misfires. It has all new spark plugs. The previous owner changed out the fuel rail and the fuel pressure regulator. Fuel pressure regulator was not clogged when I pulled it.

I already pulled the fuel rail and primed the fuel system and I let it sit and did not see any fuel pool on the injectors. All the spark plugs I pulled were black with soot aside from one on cylinder 3 or 5, it was clean. They all reeked of old fuel when I was cranking the engine with the old fuel pump on it.

Any ideas/suggestions on how to check the fuel injectors or what else to check? I have a plug cut off from another harness and I was going to put 12V to it and blast some brake cleaner through them to check if they are clogged.

This engines been stored inside the entire time shrink wrapped on a pallet after being pulled. They winterized it but forgot to run treated non ethanol fuel and drain the fuel pump. Hence the need to replace the old one.

Here's the part number on these injectors. 0280158165

^^ change this

Take entire fuel system apart and clean
Have injectors either cleaned and flowed tested (best) or run some injector cleaner thru each one on the bench. Connect under some pressure and energize the injector with 12V

Will do, I'll get the cap and rotor changed out.

It's pricier for me to get these injectors taken care of at a shop than it is to buy a set of reman Bosch ones on eBay with 2 yr warranty. Any suggestions on what's the best way to hook up and spray injector cleaner? I've used the valve stem method on auto injectors before and it worked out OK, just can get messy at times.

If you do have a recommendation for a injector cleaning system let me know, that will likely be worth the investment for me as I have numerous engines.

Yes it's the flat style cap. It was changed out by the previous owner. It ran flawlessly prior to being put in storage.
Change it again. They only last about a year or two

Do not do that, buy no injectors from ebay or amazon, they are cleaned up junk

Even the eBay ones that are remanufactered with 2 year warranty are trash? I have some local guys who can clean and flow test my injectors. Their price was about $25 per injector with new seals.

Many threads on this and other forums of folks buying and finding out later they were junk.

Think about it this way
A brand new injector may be over priced but even at $100 each would be a good deal. Making an injector has high degree of tolerances and those that don't make it get trashed. Once made taking one apart cannot be be done without damaging the housing. There are no screw together fittings, they are crimped.

So if a injector is tested and does not meet spec, they are trashed and sold to others that will sell after running some "more" cleaning fluid thru. As before if you want to make sure your injectors are ok, contact Smitty, that's who I and many others on offshore only use

Good to know thank you for the advice, I also have 2 8.1s I have read that they have injector problems as well. It's always had non ethanol in it and so far I haven't had any issues.

I guess it's time to return those eBay ones! Thanks again!
